Goal

Empowering Extensive Resilience Through Global South Leadership

A systemic funding gap often sidelines brilliant researchers in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), treating them as "plus-one" partners rather than primary architects of scientific discovery.

While we have mobilized over €300M for global environmental research, a persistent gap remains: LMIC researchers often lack the dedicated resources to lead these critical projects. We have achieved success in funding global data, but true resilience requires local leadership.

  • Over €300M mobilized for global collaborative projects.
  • 15 years of operational excellence from the Belmont Forum.
  • Projects active across 90+ countries.

We are transforming this structural gap into an opportunity for action, empowering local leadership to own the solutions that solve global problems.

Our Strategic Framework:

Providing dedicated financial pathways for LMIC Principal Investigators (PIs) to lead active Collaborative Research Actions (CRAs).
Maintaining the BFGo Multilingualism initiative, removing language barriers by accepting proposals in French, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Covering travel and logistics to ensure LMIC partners attend vital co-creation and valorization meetings.

BFF's Impact:

Your contribution directly empowers local scientists, turning global data into real-world adaptation for communities on the frontlines of environmental change.
